Vaccines
All preventive vaccines, including flu shots and COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, are covered at cost. This means your vaccine bypasses the deductible, and you will have no other cost.
Elective vaccines (such as travel vaccines) are also covered at cost but are not considered preventive and are subject to any applicable deductible.
You can get your vaccines anywhere that accepts VISA (typically a pharmacy or doctor’s office).
How it works:
- Get your vaccine.
- Pay for care on the spot using your Sidecar Health VISA benefit card.
- Getting your shot at a pharmacy? If your pharmacist asks for your insurance card, let them know you have Sidecar Health insurance but you will be paying for the vaccine directly with your Sidecar Health VISA benefit card. You can ask your pharmacist to apply any discount coupons from ScriptSave or GoodRx like you would when filling an Rx.
- Upload your itemized medical invoice to the member portal within 90 days. The portion of the bill related to your vaccine(s) and vaccine admin fees will be covered at cost.
If your provider asks for your insurance information, you can say the following:
"I have Sidecar Health major medical insurance but it works differently than other traditional insurance. I’ll pay you directly in full. You can treat me like a self-pay patient and provide me with an itemized medical invoice. Then I’ll work with my insurance company on the back-end so you don’t have to."
