Can a dependent get their own member portal login?
Yes, a dependent can get their own login if they are 16 years old or older*. There are two ways a dependent can create an account:
- Dependents can be invited by the policyholder. On the my coverage page, click on the menu next to the name of the person you would like to invite and select “send registration invite.” An email will be sent directly to the dependent, asking them to register their account. Their policy information will automatically be filled in so the member will only need to verify their birthdate and add a password to create an account.
- Dependents can also sign up for an account on their own. On the login page, they can click register and enter their personal information. Once the account has been registered, they can add their email address and a password to create an account.
Once a dependent creates a login, their expense information will become only visible to them. They will be the only ones who will be able to see:
- Provider, facility or pharmacy name
- Services rendered
- Diagnosis codes
- Expense title
- Uploaded receipts
The primary policy holder will then only see basic claim information, such as if an expense was submitted, as well as its status, date, and amount.
All expenses incurred by a dependent with a login will need to be paid by the policyholder’s card on file or dependents may pay by check.
* Some dependents under 16 may be eligible to create their own login. To determine eligibility, contact the Privacy Office via Privacy@sidecarhealth.com.
