What is Reimbursement Credit?
Reimbursement credit is received for covered services that you paid for directly.
How does it work?
Earning it:
Scenario: Your doctor charges more than your plan’s Benefit Amount for a service. Your Benefit Amount for your care is $90 and your doctor charges $100. You are using your own form of payment (not the Sidecar Health VISA benefit card) to pay for care.
Outcome: You receive a reimbursement credit of $90 from Sidecar Health.
- This money is not taxed given it was used to pay for healthcare and can be withdrawn at any time or used for future expenses.
Cashing it out:
- This credit can be requested from your member portal at any point throughout the plan year and will be sent from Sidecar Health directly via check to your address on file. Reimbursement credits are not subject to taxes.
